Meet Kelly

I’m heading into my 10th year as a personal trainer and I’m turning “the big 40” this year! If you workout in the mornings, you’ve probably seen my little gym rats running around at some point.  My husband, Jeff and I, have a son Kye (4), daughter Kendall (3) and step-son Jayden (12). Girlfriends Fit Club allows me to keep doing what I love as a personal trainer by having childcare on site; I am so thankful!  

What do you love?:  

I love helping others set and achieve goals and helping them realize the strength they have, internally and externally. My favorite piece of equipment in the gym is the Lat Pull-Down machine.  Having a strong back has always been important to me because of my own back injuries.

 

Do you have a favorite workout song?:

I find I focus better in the gym when I’m not listening to music.  If I need the extra motivation on a certain day, I’ll throw on a playlist, but I don’t typically workout with music anymore.

 

What’s your best gym tip to help maximize results and safety?:  

I see a lot of people doing exercises too fast.  Whether they just want to get through a particularly hard movement or trying to keep up in a class.  Going too quickly through an exercise movement could result in injury and you end up using a lot of other muscles instead of focusing on the primary muscle.  Next time you are in the gym try slowing down and focusing on form rather than just trying to get through an exercise. If it’s in a class, go at your own pace.  Quality over Quantity!
